Pax Vobis Obelisk

Add to planner
The obelisk, which commemorates the soldiers of many nationalities who fell while defending the Przemyśl Fortress, was raised on the intersection of Monte Cassino and Bolesław Chrobry streets.

The obelisk is a large rock with an inscription “PAX VOBIS”, a group of smaller stones, which together create a cross, two crossed weapons, a soldier’s helm and a tablet with a writing:

“OBELISK PAX VOBIS CALLS FOR A PRAYER FOR THE FALLEN SOLDIERS, WHOSE NAMES ARE ONLY KNOWN TO GOD, AND WHO PAID THE HIGHEST PRICE DURING NUMEROUS BATTLES AND WARS ON THIS LAND, ESPECIALLY DURING THE DEFENSE OF THE PRZEMYŚL FORTRESS IN 1914/1915. THE OBELISK ALSO CALLS TO CONSTANTLY LOOK FOR RECONCILIATION, FORGIVENESS AND PEACE FOR THE NATIONS OF EUROPE.”
