Fort IX "Brunner" was built between 1893 and 1896 on a trapezoid plan. It was one of the two general-purpose armoured forts built in the Przemyśl Fortress designed by Moritz von Brunner. The central part of the fort was taken by a huge three-tiered cocnrete structure. In the two lower floors there wre barracks and ammunition stores. The upper floor was taken by armoured turrets and cannons in casemates in the wings. Below the turrets there were infantry positions with a large alert shelter. The moat was defended from three caponiers and additionally in the head section in the reverse slope there was a rifle gallery.
